Random comments overhead during the iBOP judging: “It's cool, it's moody, but it's too ‘street photography.'”
“I would consider it if there were more cutline information, but the caption is …“
“Composition wise, it's not strong, but the moment is there.” “It's been heavily digitally manipulated… It's a cloudy day and he just pops too much.” “The right photo is so layered and so complex. … and so beautiful”
“Most photographers couldn't get that intimate with their subjects and that was makes it so beautiful." “It's a painting.” “The one thing I get from this photo is a lot more information about her life.”
“It feels a little bit contrived. It's beautiful, I like the composition but somehow I can see the photographer in the photo. … It's that look on her face. She's conscious that there's a photographer there too.” “That should be third… but it needs a crop.”
“It would be a better photo if it were cropped from the left”
“There's just a moment there. … And you know that she's saying, ‘Oh[censored]!'”
“I like the one of the right although there's a little too much anus for me.”
“The background bugs me… The one on the right is a little bit too loose.” “I've seen so many of those pictures in that genre …” “… It's just so cliché” “It's a cool photo but it doesn't tell me anything about the guy…”
“It's a very pictorial picture but it doesn't tell me anything about him.”
“The picture is much stronger than the caption says, but that shouldn't take away from anything.”
“Visually it's a very nice picture but it doesn't have the content of those other ones.”
“I feel like there's an element missing from that photo ... I loooove the picture but I feel like there's something missing …”
“There's too much to look at, there's not a tension.”
“It's an interesting moment but not a great picture..”
“I just like how so much was going on in this picture. I'm not usually a fan of silhouettes. …They controlled it though.” “I just like how minimal and graphic that is.”
“I love the last line in that caption… “That's opinionated.” “What newspaper published that?” “My feeling here is that's something everyone in Chicago photographs, it's been done over and over but I like her body language.”
“I've seen that picture on lots of posters, but it just doesn't feel unusual…” “…It's been shot.” “Can we only choose one?”
